| 12/05/2005 The Nissan X- Trail Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is one4X4 that other SUV makers envy a lot. The X-Trail since its arrival on the scene has remained the sports utility vehicle to beat in its segment where the Honda CRy, Toyota RAV4, Land Rover Freelander and Mitsubishi outlander are holding sway. The X-Trail has picked some vital awards both in Japan and other markets and has so far had an impressive out-going in the United States and European markets. The sports utility vehicle which entered the Nigerian market last year, rather than trailing behind others has become the one to be trailed with its array of features and excellent road handling. Nissan says that with the X-Trail, every terrain is conquerable. The X-Trail's electronically controlled All MODE 4X4 delivers all terrain prowess for calm authority in rain, sand, and mud. So, with the X-trail you can go anywhere and do anything. The X-Trial's newly designed four wheel drive switch is easy to use and offer three driving modes to chose from: two wheel mode provide excellent fuel economy in normal on-road driving condition. In auto mode however, the sensors automatically detect the need for extra traction and distribute the appropriate torque between front-wheel drive and full-time four wheel drive. The lock mode locks the X-trail in 4X4 with a fixed front-to-rear-torque distribution ratio of 5 7:43 for added traction. Nissan must have taken the Nigeria's increasing fuel pump price into consideration while assembling the X-trail. Two fuel efficient engine variants are available on the X-Trail— a petrol and diesel 2.5 litre four cylinder in line DOHC gasoline engine with continuous variable valve Timing Control (CTVC) system is available for those who are in love with petrol-powered engines. For lovers of diesel powered engines, Nissan has the X-Trail with 2.2 litre engine with new generation common rail system, variable nozzle turbo charger and larger intercooler. The X-trail impressive handling and ride is assured by a Macpherson strut type suspension and parallel-link strut suspension in the rear to ensure smooth handling and comfortable ride. Also, veritable disc brake on all four wheels offers sure-footed braking performance and extra peace of mind. A minimum turning radius of just 5.3 meter (curb to curb) and responsive power steering provide the X-Trail with excellent manoeuverability. Inside the X-Trail is simply a first class appointment. The X-Trail cockpit is the epitome of understated quality, clean design and functionality. The dashboard is not only stylish, it has everything in place for easy access and clear visibility. There is plenty of room to stretch and relax on the seats with richly upholstered seating that can be configured to carry any combination of passengers and their luggage. The double-folding rear seats enable 6:43 split when luggage space needs to be increased. The cushion can also be removed. This makes possible various seating arrangements to suit the number of passengers and amount of cargo you may have to carry. Nissan said that the safety and well-being of the X-trail driver and passenger takes precedence over all other considerations. First, information safety helps the driver to better anticipate potentially hazardous situation and make accurate decisions to avert dangers. Vanguard |
